Selmer Paris Bass – Compact
Product Description
This is a very cool Selmer Paris bass clarinet from the 1950's, serial number R144. It showcases key work down to low E instead of the usual low Eb. These models are sometimes called the “Compact” and were made with the wood wind doubler in mind. This one has quite a bit of history of past use and some repair. Including some past crack repair in the top joint. It is also currently missing the low E connecting key as well as the floor end pin.
The 1950's Selmer bass clarinets tend to play with a much more robust sonic quality compared to the later models. This one in particular is currently in need of a complete restoration. Because of the long repair line in our shop we are offering this clarinet in as is condition at a lower price point. Ultimately because of the current condition of the pads and the time it has been since the clarinet has seen serious service work it will need to be mechanically overhauled and fit with a new connection key for the bell before it is ready for any serious use.
If you have the time to wait and would like to add the cost to have it professionally restored please make the selection at check out. Our professional service would include a dissemble and cleaning with all necessary body treatment as well as a thorough key regulation with all new pads and key materials. We will also make a new connecting key for the bell as well provide a suitable floor peg with the instrument.
Ships with wood hard case.
