Product Description
Chadash Barrel

Developed by Symphony member and Buffet-Crampon artist clinician Guy Chadash, the Chadash barrels provide a unique feel with rich sound as an alternative to the standard or Moenning barrels.

It is made of unstained Dalbergia wood, a rosewood native to South America and Africa. And like other Buffet barrels it comes with silver plated rings, and polished bore.  Chadash barrels are made in a double reaming process using a single-edged French style reamer.  The bore is a revers tapered and is more gradual compared to the Moenning. This gradual taper improves the tuning of the 12th intervals, the legato tonguing, and air control; the sound stays focused into the upper registers of the horn.

Additionally, Chadash barrels are more free blowing the Moenning barrels. The power comes out in the throat tones and low register, reducing the weakness of the former and increasing the buzz of the later. This barrel works well with dark and close tip opening mouthpieces, allowing the sound to develop and project without additional strain on the player. The Chadash barrel is available in 64-67 mm sizes.
