Here we have a 1990s vintage, German made, Buffet E11 Bb clarinet in grenadilla blackwood, silver plated keys, with a serial number of #914942. This clarinet has just had a full overhaul by our own tech and replacement of materials, Derick Tramel, so you know it's playing great! Particularly, these 90s era E11 models are known for being fantastic instruments, tonally and intonationally.
Players typically view these E11 clarinets as an intermediate bridge to take them through the process of becoming a professional woodwinds player, but many doublers will see this horn as performing beyond their expectations from any era, let alone the 90s. The keys are standard with 5 rings, 4 side keys for chromatics, and trills, 3 keys for the left pinky, 4 for the right.
Sonically, this clarinet plays with a beautiful brilliance paired with a great deal of warmth, giving a full lush sonority in the chalumeau register. The keys seal perfectly with fluid key action, ready for high caliber performances. The clarion and altissimo registers gain a bit of focus, allowing for more clarity and pureness of tone.
Physically, you couldn't ask for a finer specimen to have been refurbished! This instrument has only a few blemishes to speak of, a small scrape across the serial number on the lower joint, a small indentation on the C/G tone hole, and a bit of plate wear on the C#/F# left pinky key. The wood grain on this horn looks beautiful and healthy.
This E11 ships with its original barrel, measuring 64.31 mm, and original brown leather case with red baize material interior.
