Refurbished Buffet-Crampon R13 with Nickel Keys #83703 - GOOD TO GO

This is a fully refurbished Buffet-Crampon R13 in grenadilla with nickel-plated keys, serial number #83703. Our own Clarinetquest repair tech, Audrey Denny, has just completed a full repair service on this clarinet and it's ready to go!

 

The R13 is, was, and may forever be Buffet's most well known model of clarinet. This instrument is known for its beautiful dark, resonant sound, beloved by the top professionals in the clarinet industry.

 

This one plays with a lovely extraverted tone that a player can really get lost in. It blows more freely than modern models, and the way it feels under the fingers is delightfully comfortable. The rings come down at the perfect height, and the back sides of almost all the keys have grey felt giving a positive solid feel.

 

Physically, the lower joint, bell, and barrel all look to be in excellent condition, the true black finish of the grenadilla wood has faded and is showing the grain a bit more. The upper joint has had a few cracks so it has been pinned, filled, and some of the posts have been worked on during this process as well. You can see evidence of this work namely near the trill keys and logo of the upper joint. This clarinet plays perfectly even though the repair history is lengthy. The plating is showing some wear down to the nickel silver core of the keys in places, this clarinet was clearly loved and played well by its previous owner.

 

We will ship the R13 in a Pro-Tec MAX carrying case, no mouthpiece will be included.
