Late 20s Vintage Wood Selmer Paris Bb Clarinet - Serial # K8031

Very cool late 20s vintage Selmer Paris Bb clarinet, serial number K8031. This is a fun clarinet to play and is a neat example of a top shelf professional clarinet from nearly 100 years ago.

This instrument features a grenadilla wood body with nickel silver keywork. The keys are in amazing condition for its age, showing none of the cloudy look you often see on old nickel keys. The upper joint does have a previously repaired cracks, and while the wood body as a whole shows a couple tiny nicks, scratches, and some deep grain in the wood, there are no other previous repairs that I can see. The instrument is complete with original bell and 66mm barrel.

This clarinet was repadded recently, and features all new pads and material. It has been precisely adjusted and feels great under your fingers. Sonically, it plays with a deep and darker tone, slightly spread while retaining a lot of warmth and color. A very nice instrument for players on a budget looking for a wood clarinet without breaking the bank, or lovers of the old classic instruments and sound.
