Product Description

This is a vintage Jacques Albert Fils Bruxelles A clarinet. Jacques was one of the 3 sons of Eugene Albert who originated the Albert system clarinet in the 1800's. Jacques was the last craftsmen of the Albert family and was famous for making both Albert and Bohem system clarinets. This particular A clarinet, made in Belgium, features the Boehm system and was most likely manufactured in the late 20's before Jacques moved to London.

The clarinet is in excellent condition for its vintage. Both the body joints and bell are original. At some point a previous owner of the clarinet put a modern Moennig 66mm barrel with it. The clarinets original key work is intact and in good shape. The upper body joint is in nice condition as are all of its tone holes. It does not show any history of cracks or crack repair. The bell is also in nice shape. The bottom joint does have 4 hair line cracks on the inside of the receiver.

It looks like someone was actively playing this clarinet and maintaining it for quite some time. At this point, the clarinet is playing through some leaks on an older set of pads. Ultimately, if you want to put serious play time on the clarinet, it will first need a complete overhaul. These vintage Albert clarinets are becoming pretty hard to come by. This one ships out in as is condition in a new Protec double case.
